Yes, in my opinion the studs should require either Loctite or sealant to prevent the possibility of crankcase oil from seeping along the threads into the primary case.
Studs on most engines should just be nipped and sealed if required, I was always told it just adds more distortion to that area , and then you add the remaining parts and torque it up, for more distortion.
