Can't Find KN Filter Mod for Stock Air Box for JMS Carbs

I'm considering replacing the single Mikuni VM36 carb on my 73' 850 with a dual carb setup from JMS Motorsports. I want to use my stock Norton air box with this new setup and am pretty sure that I saw a post where someone stated that K&N made a filter that was not as deep as the OEM size that would allow this to work.
I have used every search phrase/ word that I can think of and cannot find the post that had this # and info.

Am I crazy (arguably) or does anyone have this info? I am presently using a very old and ugly KN pod filter with the Mikuni setup and want to go with the JMS dual-carb setup and stock airbox.
