So I took my transmission apart to swap out the layshaft bearing and then reassembled.
Of course I had to put the cover on and off several times due to a being a dummy. In one of these iterations I must have nicked the seal as it has a very slow seeping of gearbox fluid (Redline).
I think the kickstart seal can be picked out, and the replacement driven in, without disturbing the outer cover, but it wouldn't be the first time my thinking needed adjustment.
