The pin is held by the second disk which blocks it from falling out. That's why I thought drilling both disks and leaving them in place with the spring was the best solution. If you don't put the second disk and spring back in place, then you are praying that the pin doesn't fall out and that the stationary disk stays where it is.... that's just my thoughts about it.... It doesn't take much to drill both disks in the center, file off any burrs and reassemble the stock assembly with some locktite on the pin
