Thanks Dave and thanks Jean, I don't know how I missed the other thread. I almost revived the old "Man Castles" thread and posted this there.

I have moved this thread and my post to the previous one on this topic as I think it's better to concentrate this info in one place. We should let this thread die out and follow the topic there.

Very clever. My little Craftsman lift is the first thing I reach for when working on the bike. It doesn't go anywhere near 30" but really helps on the old back.

Rennie, good thing your rafters can support the weight, I don't think mine could unless I added cross beams, not to mention the whole ceiling is closed with gyprock.
