My 10 cents worth , along with perhaps the 68 , 70 ( naff all differance ) and 73 , :D .

This mag.d be worth getting for the Bonne road test , plus Daytona & urricane .Maybe they were smoking funny ciggarettes , they thought they went pretty well .

I would like to say the 1968 machine has the best look ,plain red and chrome works for me. Unfortunately I have never actually ridden a Bonnie , a situation I hope to remedy when I get one registered for the road and given a good once over. Until then the 68 looks the biz.

first off its Bonneville. best year by far is 1970. anyone who says bugger all difference between 68 and 70 does not know much about the bikes. 1970 was all style and looks, handles well considering the fork tech. I think they should have fitted the T140 motor and disc front end instead of letting BSA redesign the whole bike. just my opinion
 
73, when they fixed the OIF seat height issue... 5 spd box etc...

Raced both OIF and duplex, IMO the OIF is the superior handling of the two

Most serious racers agree with that statement, just add a bit of reinforcing here and there...
 
My personal favourite looking Bonnie was the '68, but when it came down to whittling down my collection, I sold it and kept my '76 T140V as it was, and is, just an all-round better ride.
 
Started the 68 today it had sat for six months but fired up easy sounded ace bannana one but the clutch needs some attention..........HERE COME ......THE GIRLS!!!!

The '68 being, of course, the best year Bonneville, beyond doubt or debate.

But, I gotta say, that’s a stunner Doug. What have you done with the black paintwork, two pack, powder, or what? It looks like glass!

Yes olbbeezer, me too, especially to look at.
General consensus seems to be that the later Hopwood fettled unit bikes are better riders however.
 
There was a 60th anniversary celebration of the Bonneville in Uttoxeter, England today and I went along.

As you’d expect, there were some lovely examples there, and, as discussed above, it has to be said that the pre unit Bonnies (especially the non nacelle models) do look absolutely stunning.

It’s also fair to say, that wandering around and perusing every example from Tangerine dream to new 1200s only reinforced the fact that “there’s no debate... it’s the sixty-eight”...!
