Hello all,
Been taking a hiatus for a little while but poked by nose in a few times to check on you guys. The last few months have been hectic with the holidays, Command Inspection and general life. I traded in my truck for a Nissan Juke (also known as a Joke) LOL. Miss the utility of a truck but loving the little car, wanted a Mini but did not want the hassle of having to go 100 miles one way for service and such. Have not rode the Norton for a while and considering doing a tear down on the tranny and thinking if I go that far why not just refresh most all of the bike. Last long trip I did (70 miles) had oil on the timing cover and not really sure where it came from. The tranny oil turned gold so I figure the bushings have had it and need to go ahead and rebuild the thing. The front forks I am sure could use a freshening up along with the iso's. Found the brake fluid has completely drained out of my original front disc so I will have to investigate that and see about upgrading.
All in all, if I do a few things it will end up doing everything in the long run so why not. From what I have read on here from the few restorations the bikes (done correctly) were much more dependable than original and that is what I want. Will probably have to take the head barrels to Memphis to get them done along with any other machining since we do not really have a British shop anywhere in Tupelo. Any advice would be appreciated! I have read over Old Britts site many times and other online builds. If I do this I just want to make sure I do it right and use the best parts within my budget to do it. Will be selling my 87 convertible GT to fund this since I do not have any want to deal with it any more. Just want a bike I can get on when it is nice outside and ride without too much worry (I know bring on the "Buy another bike" rhetoric, LOL).
Thanks in advance!!
