This is an interesting request. It could take some engineering, but a 12 volt linear actuator might be able to be mounted that would put the side stand down with a switch. It would need to be wired so when engine is running it could not actuate, but seems like it would be possible to do.

Are you capable of doing your own work?

In thinking about this, there might be a number of ways to do this. Possibly a small motor could move the stand. The linear type would need to be pretty small to fit under the bike but could work.

+1 on linear actuator. Another solution might be a spring loaded side stand....spring deploys, and stand retracts by a cable, or turn it around...spring retracts, cable deploys ( might need some sort of lock to prevent retract while sitting), but the linear actuator is more elegant.

A small hydraulic cylinder with appropriate control valve could work as well....would require a tap into engine oil system...at top banjo fittings. The only control valves I know to work and be small and compact are pneumatic, but these will work with oil.

Slick

PS. With either hydraulic, or Hobot's pneumatic suggestion, (see below) there are miniature fittings available....these have 10-32 threads and push-in flex tube connectors. Tube Dia of 5/32 would be adequate.

PPS: Scrub the hydraulic suggestion....Hobot's battery powered air compressor is better and eliminates risk of oil leaks from many new junctions.

I'd fit a small air compressor and use air muscles or 2 way air cylinder and also could run air horns and tire filler or just cable pulley and lever to swing out and back in.

Neil, I fitted a bolt on side stand on the right side, onto a welded frame bracket, it wasn't that difficult to do. My missus can only get on the bike from the right side due to an old nurses injury.
I once saw a programme with a disabled Fireblade owner who had no balance, he rigged up a small pair of bogey wheels that dropped down when he flicked a switch.
good luck.

Have you thought about a detachable prop carried on the bike, one end is then attached/clipped on the upper half of the machine whilst the rider is seated, to provide the required triangulated support.

Sounds like you need a VINCENT . Tell theinsurance Co they were designed to accomodate disabled servicemen . Varyable positioning . So youd like one , please . :D

A bowden cable and a lever would be the go , if you MUST have a NORTON . Perhaps a full loop to a lever , likely near the knee - for good leverage .

Early Commandos had the short propstands , good if youre only on HARDTOP , as theyre lighter . The L O N G one , if left down , gets you NOT going quite as intended round lefthanders .
This can be not good , as looseing Two Legs would NOT be Satisfactory . ( there were NO cars head on , and I stopped ( just ) before the armco . was the overconfidant nonchalant
FLICK the L O N G sidestand up with the toe trick :o ) Therefore Im thinking it wants something simple and foolproof . Therefore RETAIN the return spring .

WElding a LUG on the R.H.Side would be no problem , if done like a late one .

If your going to have power anything , it may as well be the Main Stand . and toss the side tand - to save weight .

You guys are overthinking this. Just use a cable actuated side stand, you might be able to use a choke lever or something similar. You won't need a heavy spring, maybe no spring at all.
