Quick Question -

Were Atlas Hubs made in Japan?

I'm tearing down an Atlas front wheel and noticed that the hub has "Made In Japan" stamped into it. I never noticed this before. I always assumed that all these casts were forged in England. Maybe a dumb assumption, thought i would ask.

Thanks,

Hi Jo

Not a Norton hub! All my Dommie Atlas & Commando drum hubs have web supports. Cant see Norton ever having hubs made elsewhere.
Thing you have a Japanese wheel fitted.

Thanks Chris,

You are correct. After further inspection the brake is Norton and the Hub and wheel are not. I was just digging into my random gatherings over the years. Apparently i picked up some non-norton parts.

Thanks!

You problerly find its a Suzkie front hub as my mate has one on his copper Norton, they look very much like the original Norton hub and same size.

its an early 70's Kawasaki hub, 40 hole, Suzi didnt use 40 spoke wheels.
