Hi guys. I'm working on my Atlas Racer project. I've located a nice center mount Alloy oil tank which is going to effectively eliminate the factory battery box. What are my options? I see that Clubman has a bracket thingy that moves the battery behind the gearbox. Where else might you recommend mounting the battery? At the moment, the bike doesn't have a battery (magneto driven) and I'm debating if I even need to bother with one.

Here is clubman's option:

I am using the Podtronics regulator/rectifier which can eliminate the battery. Having a magneto, there is no need for a battery, except to keep the lights bright at idle. I'll just twist the throttle if I feel the need for brighter lights. Or else, one can fit LED's. I 'm using the battery box as another tool box.

Why do you want to carry a battery on a racer with a magneto?

I don't really... I just didn't know if there was some sort of benefit that I was missing.

Are you running the tool tray under your seat, I know the Wideline frames have the tray so you could run a small gell battery in the tray, thats if you want bright lights at night, I just run a battery eliminator and run my power from the altenator, works for me but don't do much night riding on my Norton these days, but it will power your lights if needed, the problem is that when you hit the brakes your head light will go dull .
