I saw the post about the penetrant shootout so I made up a QT of the ATF/Acetone nut buster. I have a 1934 7hp Johnson outboard that I have yet to get the flywheel off of. We'll just see what this stuff can do. When I mixed it up It apeared that it wasn't going to combine... kept stratifying..atf on the bottom. About two hours later I noticed it was one color. Seems it combined on it's own. Must be a chemistry thing . Well I will report on it in a few days.

I'll be interested to see the results from this! I've got a couple of troublesome nuts/bolts on my Norton that I've been working on for awhile now with Kroil, to no avail. I'm really hoping for a non-destructive way to get these off as they're wierdo proprietary things I don't want to have to replace.

You might have already seen this but I found it interesting from another forum.

Penetrating oil . Average load .. Price per fluid ounce

Gday Seaguy, with the Acetone & ATF, whats supposed to be the mix you think, 50/50?
here in the land of OZ, theres a product I use often called SURELUBE. Its nothing short of brilliant. Stuborn rusted nuts etc, give em a squirt of this stuff, go have a cup of tea, come back and the nuts are off sitting to the side!!

Don't you just hate it when someone starts a great thread and then there's no follow-up? :x

I think I have enough Kroil to last the rest of my life but I'm still interested in finding out whether the ATF-acetone mix worked on the 1934 Johnson outboard motor with the stuck flywheel....
