I am speechless.
I had the immense privilege to work on two David Bowie European tours: he was one of the most respecful, modest, gentle, frightfully intelligent and talented human being I ever worked with. My special thought to his wonderful wife, Iman, on this saddest day.
We have lost a giant.

Just bought his 25th album "Blackstar" on I-Tunes and watched the included video. Loved his music. Never had a chance to see him in concert. R.I.P.

No idea he was battling cancer, and wactched several Bowie concerts on Palladia this weekend. Celebrating his 69th birthday, and new album. So, the news today was stunning. RIP! and Jagbruno, what a great story to share!

Power turns with 440 Plymouth in Stadium parking lot to the tine of Ziggy ... long time ago ... always assumed all here forever ...

Seems like yesterday (in a foggy way) when I saw him perform with the Spiders From Mars at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.
That was 1973. The consummate showman. Sad for his fans, and sadder for his widow and small child.

Yes, one more giant is gone, sad. (And my father died the day before, not a great weekend). I have an eerie feeling that many of the 60-s and 70-s stars will be taking the "big sleep" in the next few years, they are getting pretty old, quite natural really. But it´s unwanted news everytime :( .

Had the pleasure of Watching him at Wembley arena in 2003, fantastic, so sad, just ordered Blackstar in Vinyl.

First time I heard a Bowie song was on the bus to ski lessons in Minnesota when I was nine - 1972, Changes. I like it then, and I still like it now.

Pretty soon now you're gonna get older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time

The new video is sad, what with the death of Major Tom and all. Poignant.

yep, i saw a tee-shirt I liked (and appropriate): it had written on it:

"I might be old, but at least I got to see the good bands." I should of bought it.

Anyways, 69 is far too young, and his new album was released 2 days before he passed, just a shame he did not get to see what it does. AND he had the best issue of bonds to make out on the future earnings of his music, he started if I understand correctly. Google "Bowie Bonds."

RIP David Bowie, one of the greats.

First Lemmy and now Bowie, end of an era for sure. RIP 2 of my heroes
Tommy, sorry about your father too :(

YouTube has a video made in the International Space Station by one of the astronauts singing "Major Tom" very powerful now.

That would be our proud Canadian Chris Hatfield ...singing in space

Growing up in the very late 60's & early 70's in the UK, I was not "allowed" to like Bowie, because I was a greaser & rode motorbikes.
At the time he was stating that he was exploring the gay side of living, whether that was true or not, I'm not sure, because a lot of UK pop stars at that time were into Glam Rock. All the music at that time was amazing & I did eventually get to listen to Bowies early albums & they are classic (oops didn't mean to use that word) ground breakers.
It is indeed a sad day in musical history, & otherwise, because he was also a forward thinker in many other fields. His own internet set, first single downloads etc.

I had the good fortune to see him live just the once, but it was in Berlin (the advantages of being an army kid was that we got to live all over the world).

I bought my first proper camera from the PX and took it to the gig. I reckon it's not bad for a kid's first attempt at live music photography :)

He came to Brisbane in the late 70s and played at Lang Park a few of my mates went to the concert, they recond it was so loud, I didn't go as funds was low at the time and couldn't afford the tickets, there was outrage from the neighbours about the noise and the powers that be curtailed a lot of big concerts at Lang Park after that, it was our only big venue at the time.

Get used to it. I am only 75 and many of my close friends have gone already. Did you see the news report on Kirk Douglas yesterday ? He says he is lonely because most of his friends have died. I'm just happy that I have lived my life when I did. I think it has been as good as it ever gets. Particularly road racing - today it is crap.
