Ash is in hospital

My number one thing is looking after Debra and suffering her injuries while on the back of my bike, although the accident wasn't my fault I still feel it's my duty to take care of her, like a ship captain I am responsible for whoever jumps on the bike with me to be safe.
Debra suffered a lot growing up, she the oldest of 9, her dad was abusive to the older kids when he come home drunk and blamed Debra for having to get married in the first place, she had eye problems from a young age and was wearing thick glasses from the age of 18 months so her balance was effected while growing up and brittle bones didn't help as well falling down 18 steps at the back of her house, collar bones were the biggest injuries while growing up and later years all them old injuries have caught up with her as she gets older and now with new injuries to go on top of old injuries.

Her eyes are a lot better these days as she had major Cataracts surgery the last 3 years now and she no longer wear glasses except reading and distant glasses when she drives, was like having a stranger in the house after her eye sight was fix as I have always known her with very powerful glasses and bad eye sight, as well Debra has always been a night person, she stay up late at night and into the early hours of the morning, sometimes she come to bed when I am getting up, but she has always been like that, she will sleep till well after 10am and sometime she not getting enough sleep if she has early app or things to do, she is also addicted to her mobile phone and anything that shows up on her phone she got to watch it, it's a bad habit and standing up leaning over the kitchen cabinets most of the night watching crap on her phone don't help with her pain.

She won't admit she has a problem and if I say anything I cop it, she also have major hearing lost and is loud when she talks even with her hearing aids she still hard to hear unless we are talking face to face.
Yes she has many health problems and as she gets older the worst they will get, she still has near 2 years before she gets her old age pension but the wheels and paper work are moving to get her a disability pension as her new injuries will take a lot more time to heal as well her other problems, but no matter what I am committed to her care as much as I can now with a missing leg, I got rid of my pain after the big chop, once inside the house I take my new leg off and use my wheelchair to do things in the house, but I can wear my peg leg all day without any problems, the leg makers done a great job and has surprised the amputee rehab trainers to how long I can wear the leg without any wear or sores opening up on my stump from rubbing, I got top of the range leg made as the CTP insurer has paid for it, so I am lucky with that side of things.

I finally get my new wheelchair on Thursday, made of carbon Fiber and painted Farrie red be so much better than the hired chair I been using since I left hospital but only use the chair when inside the house or if we go traveling next year it will come with us.
The thing with my injuries I accepted it straight away, adapted to my leg lost from day one and took care of myself from that day, did everything myself without any help although the help was there, Debra has a lot more troubles adapting but she doing the best she can and I there to help her when I can, but she has to control her bad habits which is causing a lot of her problems, but I can't help her with that as she got to admit she has a problem on that side of things.

We both have been through a lot this year with recovery, rehab, getting things done, its a slow process, but rehab for me has been great from day one to now, but I needed a break, months of going up to rehab has taken its toll on me and doing my head in but a few weeks break without any interruptions to me trying to get my life back to normal, well as normal as I can, I have never been a normal person lol, I do things my way but now not as easy as it used to be with 2 legs and I got to put more effort into what I do now, but I doing OK because I adapted to everything, I haven't given up on do anything myself, which has helped me on the way to a normal life again, Debra is finding it harder to adapt but she is getting there, healing takes time and her injuries will take a few years yet before things are fully healed, but life goes on and things will settle down in the new year we start fresh but still have a way to go, I need to get back on the bike soon as that be the best therapy for me, but I got to do it in stages the first stage of driving again was the first step in the right direction for me.

It's a lot to take in, in between those two sentences.

Even harder to help from across an ocean, or I'd be knocking on your door with hot meals, helping in the garden, etc. AS WOULD SEVERAL OTHERS!

But, I can't.

I hope those who are near, can be "in the right place, at the right time" to help this all go smoothly.

You should KNOW, by now, that your Norton buddies are here to back you up AT LEAST with moral support. We may not be able to do much from a distance, but believe me, we will do whatever we can, if you just ASK!

One step at a time, one day at a time, and we will look back on this day YEARS ahead in the future and laugh, cry, and wish you well, ALL THE SAME.
