Are 850 mk3 Commando's Veglia rev counters repairable?

My Veglia rev counter still works but could do with a service and cosmetic refresh, I have read various posts that say these are not repairable?
As I am in NZ is there any local members here that could recommend a service agent for repairs?
Thanks

Yes they are repairable, I had my veglia apart to cure a wildly swinging needle, all over the place. When i got it apart and delved into the inner workings i found the little brass bush on the drag cup was worn out causing the drag cup to catch on the magnet and so swing the needle about. A bit of lathe work and the use of some clock makers broaches cured that. It helped that i had already made the equipment to roll off the Bezel and roll it back on.

Try Robinson in Onehunga, they did a brilliant job on both my Smiths speedo and tach, and they may be able to do the Veglia.

At the moment I am running a smith's electronic rev counter alongside the original Veglia speedo but I do have a set of refurbished mk3 Smiths instruments.
I may go down a different track and see if they can reset the mileage on the refurbed Smith speedo that has been zeroed to my current mileage.
Cheers.

When they rebuilt mine they asked whether I wanted the current mileage or to zero it. So they should be able to.

The Tacho on my 850 was highly erratic, bouncing around all over the place...I managed to take it apart using a small screwdriver to carefully prise up the bezel and gave it a good spray out with WD40, it works great now. I had been quoted around $400 by Auckland Speedo repairs to do the job.

I took your advice and send my "Fully refurbished" Ebay NVT speedo to Robinson's to get the mileage set, Russel the technician reported back that the speedo did not work and had in his opinion just had the outer case repainted and a new dial face & glass fitted with the internals in need of a full overhaul.
The speedo did look great from a cosmetic point of view though...
I also have a "Fully refurbished" NVT rev counter as well that has not been tried out.
The seller is still advertising his wares on Ebay under the name aprivatepeace503 (Bob Carter, Portland Oregon)
I would advise anybody contemplating a purchase of his refurbished instruments to tread carefully as they may get burnt like me unfortunately. 😡

Bummer. Hopefully it will turn out nicely. Both my speedo and tach they resto'd are rock solid.
