Anyone using RK SV530UVR narrow o-ring chain on their Norton? New product for vintage bikes using standard 530.

This is easier than the 520 oring chain conversion. It is still expensive. Is it worth it? https://rkexcelamerica.com/products/rk-chains/chain-series/uwr/

UWR is specific for vintage motorcycles requiring narrow clearance chains that came with 530 non-sealed chains. SV530UWR has a max width of 22.70mm making UWR ideal for British bikes such as Norton, Triumph, also Honda 1970’s CB750, CL450 etc.
I believe that Glen (worntorn) uses that on his Commando without any issues.

Great stuff. I had contacted them a couple years ago. Not available in the US.
But now IT IS!!

That'll make a bunch put away the worry beads!

They state a max chain width of 22.7mm which is narrower than the master link for 10B-1 chain! Assuming the 22.7mm is at the master link, then this is excellent. Since they only (apparently) have rivet master links, it's probably true. Has anyone experience with riveting their master links?

Amazon has them for around $200 depending on length.

The RK chain tool is a good investment, they have now modified the rivet flare tool to make riveting the master link foolproof.
There is no way you can overtighten the masterlink rivets and bind it up.

Desmo,
Do you just replace the rivet when taking the chain off?
Thanks,Mike

Yes, the riveted master link must be renewed each time you break the chain.
I generally grind off the rivet head with an angle grinder and use the RK tool to push out the old master link pin.

I used the EK threaded / rivetted type masterlink for the first time recently when I installed a new 525 x ring chain on the Thruxton R. Too my mind it makes all other rivetted masterlinks obsolete. No chain tools are needed and you don't have to worry about peening too much or too little. Pretty neat idea! BTW I have an older full size DID 530 o ring chain on the MK3. It cleared without a problem. Newer DID are considerably narrower than the old DID sealed 530 and the RK uwv / uwr are of course narrower yet. If you have a MK3 you can pretty much throw any sealed 530 on there as long as it has a rivetted masterlink of some type. Same with the 650SS and, I assume, an Atlas.

Here is the EK breakaway screw/ rivet type masterlink

With the new style RK flare tool, you snug it down until it stops and won't go any further.
The end result is a perfect factory style peened rivet - no fuss no worries.
I'm sure it works well on the RK rivet type. Will it also work with DID chain? I imagine it should work on any standard type rivetted x or O ring masterlink.
The big plus of the EK thread type rivetted Masterlink is that no chain tools are needed. Anyone can do a perfect install of EK's threaded rivet type masterlink with just a spanner.

Glen
