I'm lazy and just want to change the tail lamp bulb to an LED. Searching found many DIY LED boards and such but I just am looking for a positive ground/earth 1157 type that has a white light for the license plate. Superbrights has one but it's negative ground.

Anyone got a P/N or source for my lazy butt?

Goffs LED stop and tail light bulbs are great.

You don’t say what year your bike is, but if it’s a late one with the big square light as fitted to T140s then Goff also does a special bulb for these big lenses and they really are very good.

Call Greg Marsh, I bought one from him. Lucas brand, replaces the existing bulb, inexpensive and works great. I believe he has a batch of them.

Does Goff respond to emails? I ordered/paid for a bulb and have received no reply to queries, just curious if this is normal for him

He replied to me when I had a problem with his headlamp LED and sent me the fix no charge.

I've always had great response from Mr. Goff.
E-mail part numbers to him, with all pertinent information, quote comes straight away.
The right stuff, quickly shipped.

So I looked up the Lucas replacement LED and some reviews said there's not much difference between the tail and stop brilliance. Any real world from the members?

I tried an LED bulb (Red tint) in my mk3 and found the results not much different than running a standard bulb and the licence plate lighting was worse.
I then fitted Paul Goff's LED taillight board into the standard set up, a bit of fiddling around but the results were brilliant so to speak.

I know that you said you only wanted to drop in replacement, but if proper lighting is what you're after, this will do the job well for you.
