This is 5th new helmet since '99 so getting 2-3 yrs before something fails on em I can't live with, ugh. Last one was HJS flip up, like the poor suffering one before it, but after saving noggin a number of times, deer, goat and dog, it rolled off seat on Texas trip and a flip up hinge came un-hinged, again, so gave up on it this time as to skewed/worn mechanism to set right.

I've read up on how helmets should fit tight and snug but for the life of me my experience has been - better be loose enough to spin half way around more than your neck can or guess what snaps first. A number of times, helmet twisted so its edge slammed into shoulder/back/chest bruising in a ring, but my head didn't have to take the same range of motion. Deflection is good protection.

Heres my next one in silver.

Very cool looking helmet, fellow Nortoneer, but have you read all the reviews?? I've always owned Bells and although I love my current one (Apex) there always seems to be one common complaint....they're LOUD. Mine is too, but if I get a scarf around my neck to keep the wind from coming up the base of the helmet it seems to cut the loudness down to a tolerable level.

Yes I read both sides of the reviews but I mostly ride with the screen up for the wind blast so it might not bother my rock and roll and big bang damaged hearing. But its getttng cold so hooded sweet shirt and scarf may work for me too. Mainly glad you like the fit and protection as this is my 1st Bell. I did see where a fella returned his so that's also good to know they will do.

One of the 70s Bell ads in aussie was a testimonial from a 750 Honda rider who fell off and had the trailer on a semi run over his head. No Harm . He thought the helmet worked good .

Yes Hobot fellow Nortoneer, I love the fit of my Bell...tried many others but IMHO no comparison. Like you, I always wear a helmet...even for the shortest, most brief moments on my Combat. I ride with another off-the-walll Nortoneer who never wears one....Ugh...working on my scooter's carbs one day at his garage I went around the block for a test run w/o my Bell and felt soooo naked and exposed...never again. Can't understand how folks can do without.

Safe riding....Chip

Oh my yes Chip we are of same helmet covered minds. My buddy Wes loves the flip chin HJS I got him but he only wears it on his Bergman scooter and insists on wearing his worn out cushion open face Capt. American helmet when on his Bonnie or '71. Gives me the jitters as we know a deer or a rock can slap your head down to ground so fast you don't know it happened till a bit later. Thanx for the uplifting feed back on one of my spending 'spree's. Ain't received it yet. When I start learning how to ride Ms Peel in earnest I'll duct tape major joints to stay contained if crushed on impacts.
