Just been putting some miles on my 73 850 Commando after replacing the head gasket a 2nd time. This time around I had a well known machinist mill the head flat (had a .0015 dip right at the pushrod tunnels) amd used Jim Schmidt's Pliobond and wore method and so far so good! Bike ran good but the carburation started to get that not so fresh feeling. Found the old style white non-ethanol resistant floats to be the culprit after checking the float level with the handy tool which screws into the bottom of the float bowl and has a hose. New floats properly adjusted and now the #1 carb responded to tuning! Took her out tonight for a grocery run and she is dialed!
