I detect a lean condition when accelerating and feel it is occurring between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle.
The carburetors are new Amal Premiers.
I found with California fuel I needed to run a richer, #3 slide instead of a 3 1/2.
The needle is currently in the lowest, or leanest, position, as indicated in the standard settings. That is, the clip is in the top groove.
My question is how much of a change is a single clip from the top groove to the middle groove?
The tune of my engine is factory stock, 14,000 miles, good clean combustion chambers and good (though unmeasured) compression. Stock crossover exhaust and stock air-filter setup with a 1000 miles on the filter.
Ignition is Tri-Spark set to 30 degrees max advance. It idles great and starts easily, hot or cold.
Anyway, the basic question is how much of a change is one clip richer on the needle?
