Hi Yves, and other responders out there, thanks for words, nice to know i'm not alone. by the way has anyone got an 850 cylinder head they don't need, mine has developed the classic 'third fin up' crack through to push rod tunnel therefore sprays oil a bit,,not bad enough to stop riding but has resisted all efforts at fixing, including 2 attempts at laser welding, new heads are crazy expensive,-must keep this bike on the road. thanks again, twothumbs.
There is a complete one for sale here in Switzerland for Chf1000 (£815 at today's rate). it comes with two new exhaust valves. If you are interested P.M. me and we can work out how to proceed.

Cheers,

cliffa.

thanks cliffa, apologies for delay in response, that sounds like a good offer to think about, but i've just spent a similar amount having the starter mod made, which seems to be successful so far.

Blimey!
That's a lot of money to spend on top of the starter kit purchase
Did you have the conversion made to drive on just the two sprocket puller holes?
Or did you do what I have done and drive on the puller holes plus the woodruff key?

No problem.

The wooruff key is not mandatory anymore with my system, but is stii helpfull for the ignition timing
Yves
Yes I realise that the woodruff key isn't necessary but when I re made your system to fit with a belt drive I thought why not.
I needed to make new parts anyway so I thought I'd include the woodruff key, it works perfectly I'm very happy with it
Cheers
