Validate cable adjustments and sync the landing of the slides. Then play with the idle screws.

Thomas,

This might help you test for spark without unplugging the HT boot. Les is correct, pulling plug boot is not recommended on Boyer units either.

You should be able to find one at any auto-parts store. I have had mine for at least 20 yrs, it is slightly different but same principle. If you have an induction timing light you can do the same test. Just put the lead on the plug wire and pull the trigger. If there is no spark present, the light will not go on.

That's a good way to check for spark. The cheapest easiest down n' dirty way is pull the cold side plug put it back in the HT lead and rest the plug body on the head on the fin beside the spark plug hole. Take some duct tape or wire to wrap around the lead to hold it to head so as not to fly about from vibrations. Then start it up on one cylinder and look down ,observe the plug for firing sparkage or not. If it was sparking then put it back in and move analytical thinkings to carb. :|

Would also like to know if there is a wet plug on the cold cylinder. If it is getting fuel and if there is no spark it should be soaked with gas.

Hi,
sorry, what means "wet plug"?.
Ciao
Piero

Thomas,

Wet with un-burned gasoline. A normal plug will be dry when removed from the cylinder head. If the engine is not firing and getting a supply of fuel the plug will look wet when you remove it. As though you dipped it in a cup of fuel. Hope that is a good explanation .

ok I've good news!

first of all...LES I'm very happy to inform you that we've properly adjusted the timing on the bike with a stroboscope! :D
after some spark plug failures I've also bought new coils and the bike is very smooth and rev as it should!
I'm very happy
thank you all for your advices
