Good evening all, I hope I reach the right people. My dad passed away in December of 2018 and I took over a storage unit of his because it had all of his tools, personal items, and his motorcycle projects. The unit was out of state and took a few years before I could finally go out and bring it all home this past June. So I’m not aware of the year but I believe it it may be a 70 or 71 750 Norton Commando. I believe every major component of the bike is there, with some small parts as well. I’m sure there’s some things I’d have to get. I don’t have any experience with building a bike let alone working on one. I have some people I know that would be a great help to me so I’m not totally in the dark. I just want to see if there was any advice or things I should know before starting? The bike is completely apart, the frame has the front tire attached as well the handlebars, headlight and some wiring. He also had the manuals and records of parts ordered.

I can attach photos later if needed.

Yes , where are you ? Do you have a credit card , because you will be spending on this project . This forum will help guide you along the path . Enjoy .

There can be various differences between a "70" and a "71" Commando depending on the model type so which model from the links below do the parts resemble, also there should be a six digit serial number on the engine and the plate on the frame headstock that should match with perhaps a date stamp so can you give that number or at least the first four digits and the date.

In the first brochure it states that the cruising speed is 110mph upwards. I wonder how long for ? 🤣 🤣

Photos will be needed. Post as many as you can. Where are you located? Might be someone nearby willing to lend a hand.
I wish everyone would update their profile to provide an approximate location!

For those in the US, at least the state, but ideally the city/state. There are lots of Norton owners and clubs in the US and lots of people willing to help or who can at least steer you to someone who can.

Anyway, my profile shows Annandale, VA. If you're in Northern Virginia or much of Maryland, you're not far away. If you're in Southern, VA, or NC, I know people to help. In CA there are lots of Norton owner, in the Northeast there are lots of Norton owners as there are in the Seattle area.

If one was to drive from Jim Comstocks place to Matts cNw location I am nearly dead center between them!

South central Colorado.

OK, update your profile to say South Central Colorado :)

On a computer (might be different on a phone): Click your username above right, select Account Details, slide down and fill in Location.

Looked all over on a phone. Cannot find it. Will have to see about a PC. I do about everything on a phone, even coded my Arduino projects on a phone!

Looked again, found it. Oddly there are TWO "Location" fields??

Checked my phone, still top right but no username, just the logo. Anyway, you got it done :)

I’ll try and get some photos tomorrow, everything’s in a storage unit I have in town. And I’m located in Southern California.

Haha yes I do have a credit card, and in Southern California! I hope so, this seems like the best place to be!

Greg,
That worked. I also think that is a good idea.
