I have a ‘56 Inter with TT Carb that won’t idle. Runs great just not ideal in city traffic. If I switch to a Monobloc is it simply the case of ordering the same size jet as the TT Carb ?

With any carb changes they need to be tuned to the bike they are being fitted too, getting the jets, needle position etc, right for the conditions as well the bike all plays a part in tuning, unless the carb has been built for your bike but they still need fiddling and adjustments made, putting a new carb on and not touch it would be luck at its best and of course start with new spark plugs, make sure timing is set right and valves adjusted, they all play a part to tuning.
If your old carb is not idling right then something is not right and might be just something simple to get it idling.

As @ashman has stated, it's not as easy as simply popping a new carb in.

I lose track of the order, but check the shop manual "tune-up" / maintenance section, and go thru the steps in the order they are presented, as each step is dependent on the previous step (mechanical, electrical, fuel, air, etc).

Once you have the mechanics and electricals set properly, a careful "plug chop" will tell you what you need to do with your fuel delivery. That in itself also has to follow the step-by-step for each aspect of the carburation. First the starting and idling, then the low speed, then the mid-range, then the high speed.

Theres no idle circuit to work with.
From what I’ve read and what the PO told me the Amal TT Carb was not designed to idle. These were primarily used on race bikes and needed to be blipped constantly to keep the bike running. In the case of an accident the bike would cut out. That why I want to switch it.

25 pilot jet is standard for 4 stroke in monobloc. Rest by tuning but start with the TT sizes. Start with idle tune just to get it starting easy, then get mains sorted, next is needle jet and needle position the throttle slide cutaway and then redo idle.

Thanks for that strategy Kommando
