accel coil

I have a 1976 commando with a Boyer electronic ignition and a 140403s accel coil which I bought 5 years ago as a kit. The problem is the coil took a dump. Does anyone know where I could purchase the coil alone without buying the whole kit. Thanks Hershey

It looks like the super coils should have Accel's "famous limited lifetime warranty". They seem to be not very easy to deal with. I did find a disclaimer about excessive vibration but not sure if it was the model you have. Was not able to find any place which sells the coils alone or any further details on the warranty.

Accel is now part of Mr. Gasket which is part of Prestolite.

Rockypointcycle sells a nice dual lead single coil and so does Colorado Norton Works. The CNW one is as it be expected more money, but it is supplied with bracketing and bolts right on form fitting, very nice.

Have read on here where someone was using an after market big spark coil used for Harleys, could be worth a look?!

im running the full pazon system, that has a dual fire coil. maybe one of them will work on yours

My Combat with dual stock old 6 volts sputtered to a halt today ,no sparkage. Replaced Boyer ,no difference ,yes it is getting white wire power. So I have an Accel 140403S super coil here to hook up and try but don't know where the 2 wires that go to it connect to with the Boyer unit. Please guide me on this. Thanks. :shock:

White wire power would be positive ground. Hook the red wire to one terminal on the coil and the black wire to the other.

Thanks. Will report back. Next morning install. Just returned from Georgian Bay. Ran perfect until Toronto ,weak sparkage until none. :?:

Me and the wifey will be in Vancouver so rock on without me this year. Looks like my battery won't hold a charge above 12.1 so perhaps the Boyer is shutting down so will order another. The Accel sheet says it will put out a way more powerful spark so need energy. :roll:
