Time for the 12 month service on my 2025 pcp Commando (first service was done at 600 miles, bike now has 1600 miles on the clock) and local dealer Teasdale, having lost or given up the franchise, doesn't now want to know. Norton apparently has appointed a new dealer (Car Barn at Beamish near Newcastle, about 35 miles away from me).
I presumed that, to maintain the guarantee, Teasdales could still do the service just as any main dealer could, as long as genuine parts were used. I was informed by Teasdales however that this only applies to cars and not to motorcycles. Does anyone know if this true?
I phoned Car Barn and the usual menu presented itself. Press 1 for sales or 2 for workshop. Pressed 2, no answer. Tried again later, same result so pressed 1 for sales - answer was " hello workshop"! I asked to book in for a service but was told the man who could do that was not around and would ring me back. No one did. Decided to try again, same thing again except someone did ring back this time. I was quoted £270 which seemed a bit steep for what I presumed was essentially an oil change. I was told that the silencers would have to come off (is this right?) and the head would have to be re-torqued. I checked the Norton service schedule and the head was re-torqued at 600 miles with no mention of being required again at 12 months.
They couldn't tell me there and then but asked for my email address to confirm a date to me. Guess what? - no email received and that was a over a week ago. God help Norton (and their customers) if this is an example of support for the new model line up.
The next dealership to me is at Nottingham which is 140 miles away, so I thought to myself I might as well go the extra 60 miles to the factory in Birmingham - but Teasdales tell me Norton no longer service bikes (or is that just the 961?).
