Ask Leo Goff - he ran a much modified Norton Commando Dragster in the 80s - he should know what is possible in a straightline. The bike was normally aspirated but ran on alki, had a modified Kawa gearbox (turned upside down) with 6speeds - he had to use at least 4 of them over the 1/4 mile. I can´t remember the times or speeds but it was enough in those days to shock the opposition....

Cheers

Oh good pointer Hartumt, I've done some dealing with Leo but didn't know his drag background. Could be vital to get his insights in handling shocking acceleration.
I can't use fancy fuels as Ms Peel primary function is daily use on 91 octane and water. I could install NOS or even 500 hp H2O2 rockets but don't intend to cheat that way.

Youse guys, why do you bother reading all the text written by everyone, THE TITLE IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT and in this respect, it is correct, ALL Nortons will do the quarter mile in OVER 9.99 seconds.

Jean

Good catch! In that case I retract my comment. Even my 59 NSU Maxi will turn a quarter > 9.99 sec.

Yep, hope one can do 9.999 seconds at least once before something dies : )
