850 carbs

My carbs have needle jets marked 106? Is this correct? The parts manual states 107 and I think the Haynes states 104? Bike has a Kand N filter with needle in top clip position and 260 mains i.e. it looks a standard set up otherwise.

Yes, = 1971-on, check your workshop manual specs. (.106).

Which "parts manual"?

The '73 parts book gives the needle jets as "622/122" (are you confusing the spray tube number 928/107 with the needle jet number?)

The Haynes manual says:
" Needle jet....928/104 #...

....# must be used in conjunction with choke tube 928/107"

928/104, is the Amal 4-ID ring throttle needle part number-so Haynes listed the wrong information.
 
Thanks L.A.B. your right on all counts. They seem to have number 3 slides though not 3&1/2's...

That could be because of the K&N's? My 850's carbs are also fitted with number 3 slides and S&B custom filters.

If your 850 runs well in the 1/4 - 1/2 throttle range, then the slides are probably right?
