Apparently the rear mudguard on my '69 is too far gone to chrome. Can someone help me with measurements on the 69-70 vs. the 71? The frame certainly didn't change, but maybe the mounting did? As far as I can remember, it only mounted on the rear loop under the tail light and a bracket that went between the top shock bolts. I don't think anything else was attached to it. Looks like the tail light is the same from 69 to 71. Mike at Walridge told me there was no replacement fenders for my year, but can I adapt the 71 stainless mudguard to my 69 somehow?

Thanks,
Dave

Ebay 300429974212 This looks to be the correct Guard, 71 is different to 69-70 note the indentation on right side for the tyre pump which is not on the 71 guard.

Thanks for that link Al. I know about the tyre pump indentation. I was willing to forgo that if I could get a stainless 71 to fit in its place.

Dave, I think it also mounts onto the battery bracket at the rear where there are two studs coming off a tab welded under the plate that the battery sits on.

Dave,

The '71 fender will bolt right up. I ran mine for years with that fender until I got the original rechromed last year. I sold it off on eBay or I'd offer it to you. The '71 has an indentation for the oil tank and doesn't look as good on an S as the earlier fender since that area is pretty exposed. As others have said, it also doesn't have the indentation for the frame mounted pump.

Nelson,
Thanks, that's good to know. I will probably try to get the ebay one too and see if I can get it chromed.

Thanks
