68 timing

Basic question for a 68 Commando with a Boyer, looking at the timing plate. To retard the timing should the plate be rotated clockwise?

Move the plate WITH the direction of rotation of the cam. Moving toward the direction of rotation means the
spark will occur sooner, ie, more advanced. This is the same for EI or AAU.

Ok, so looking at the stator, I would rotate it counter clockwise to retard the timing? This has the distributor behind the cylinder like the Atlas.

A later model Commando rotates Counter clockwise ( Anti Clock)

A 1968 rotates clockwise, so move the stator clockwise to retard.
