50th anniversary Cafe Racer

another cafe on the production line, not long to wait now!

50th anniversary Cafe Racer

Ive been torn if the Harley Davidson Öhlins blackline actually work aesthetically on a comando as I love the gold Öhlins but I definitely have gotten used to it and like it a-lot now!!

I have gold Ohlins rear and gold Showa upsidedown front on my other 'Brit' (cough) bike . At first I really liked the contrast color (black bike) but now I am a little tired of it and would have preferred chrome rear springs and polished forks for the longer term.

Norton have made the brave decision to re-use 'Roadholder' and each fork on the anniversary bikes will be badged as such!

I love both gold and black
My sf has the gold and my Naked has the black.
What I really like are the “Roadholder” emblems.

Where are you guys getting these pics of your bikes being built from? do you know someone at the factory?

Wow, never been invited myself despite having two bikes on order, I would have loved to see mine in production.
Is it by invitation only? I thought you fellas were calling for and appointment to tour the factory.

I’ve never been to the factory sadly! The photos I showed were taken by the factory staff for me when I asked them for “a couple of pics to see the progress”.

Thanks for clarifying that for me, I thought it must be something like that.

Invite not needed. I was in the area on Wednesday and phoned Clem to ask if he had 20mins spare to show me around. 'Come on over' was the response!

Same experience for me - Clem is a great guy and if you are are friendly to him he will go out of his way to help you out. Combine this with Simon's attitude of 'anything is possible' and you have a unique working relationship with Norton. I am currently getting some not-quite-standard long loud pipes made up there. Olivia is also very helpful and extremely technically savvy.

Likewise, a lot of none standard requests have gone into my build so far and I've found them very accommodating indeed. Very little evidence of this awful "computer says no" attitude that is so prevalent today.

Yep Olivia has an old head on young shoulders , the key to success particularly to have that early on in your career, norton mechanics & team been very obliging with me .

What exactly are Harley Davidson Ohlins Blackline?

Back in 2015 Öhlins were breaking into the Harley market with some ads. Basically all black Öhlins for Harleys. My friend got a pair for his Dyna springer. They look like mine but all black. Maybe wasn’t as popular in your area but in Niagara Falls and my area billboards everywhere for Harley bikes and harley gear. Perhaps why I know. Also blackline is memerable because I almost bought a HD BLACKLINE.

Hello Gents, visited the NEC Motorcycle Live show for the first time in 18 years. I have a guzzi V7 and was thinking about adding a nine t scrambler or a Ducati Mosnter 821 or 1200 to my already full garage. The problem was I entered the NEC and the first stand was Norton.

Had a good luck around the show but was drawn back and chatted to Clem, needed another pint to clear my head and came back and ordered a 50th anniversary cafe racer, initially in manx silver but changed it to titanium. Visited the factory on 20th December when Clem kindly showed me and another couple around (the gent also ordered a cafe). Saw my bike in build, actually it was on the dyno doing a rolling road test. You couldn't go and see your actual bike like this almost anywhere else I guess.

Really looking forward to taking delivery maybe next week or the week after.
