China Announces Massive Oil And Gas Discovery

Chinese state-owned oil and gas corporation CNOOC has discovered a significant oilfield with light crude reserves of 100 million tons in the Bohai Sea, which stretches along the country’s northern coastline.

According to a statement from the company, the Bozhong 26-6 oilfield lies in the south of the Bohai Sea, with an average water depth of 22 meters. The discovery well was drilled and completed at 4,480 meters and encountered 321.3 meters of oil pay zones. The report said the well was tested to produce an average of approximately 2,040 barrels of crude oil and 11.45 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

“Bozhong 26-6 oilfield is the third oilfield discovery with [a] hundred million tons of reserves in [the] southern Bohai Sea after Kenli 6-1 and Kenli 10-2,” CNOOC’s deputy chief exploration engineer, Xu Changgui, stated.

US Ally Quietly Resumes Russian Oil Imports — Data

Japan has resumed imports of Russian oil after an eight-month hiatus in deliveries, S&P Global Platts reported this week, citing the country’s ministry of economics, trade, and industry.

According to preliminary data on crude imports released by the ministry on February 28, Japan received 747,706 barrels of crude in January from the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project in Russia’s Far East. The deliveries were taken by Japan’s Taiyo Oil, whose spokesperson said the cargo was part of the remaining crude volume under its 2022 contract.

The January delivery was the first since Japan imported just over 650,000 barrels of Russian crude last May....

Pakistan is reported to receive the first test shipment of crude oil from Russia next month, in April 2023.

At the same time, Russia agreed to receive payments in Russian rubles, Chinese yuan or Emirati dirhams on account of oil supplies to Pakistan

Pakistan is close to a final agreement with Russia for the import of crude oil and petroleum products, with the first consignment expected to arrive in the country after a final deal is sorted in late March. Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov was in Pakistan last week to discuss the deal.25/01/2023
