I always thought production of the 850 Roadsters ceased with the 1975 model year, but have seen one for sale billed as a 1976 model. Am I wrong or is maybe the seller relying on a registration in 1976 of a 1975 model or something of the sort? Any info is appreciated...thanks.

There were about 1500 machines assembled after 1975 from remaining parts stores. These are identical to 1975 model specs. I believe very few if any were exported to the US as the dealer system had collapsed by then.

It should be easy to check from the headstock plate if it's still there and if they didn't forget to stamp it.

Didn't they change the rear brake pedal for '76 ? :?

The last batch of Receiver-assembled Mk111s appeared in UK dealer's showrooms in late 1976 or early 1977 along with a few T160s. I couldn't afford one at the time but I started saving !

I hadn't heard that. Changed in what way?

The early 850 MkIII rear brake pedals had a curved arm between the pivot and the foot pad, later levers were straight.

Yeah and I think that I've got the wrong one ! Anyone got a curved one for sale ? :)

For the non rivet-counters amongst us who hadn't picked up on the difference between the brake pedals, here's the super-sexy curvaceous early version :-

...and here's the rather straight-laced later pattern :-

I have to confess that I don't know when they actually changed. Some time around mid-1975 I suspect.

If anyone has a useable curved type spare, I'd be interested.
