The following comment doesn't address the issue of the warning light but...


The literature shown even says that this is a half-wave rectifier but the two zeners are the other half of a bridge rectifier and do double duty as voltage regulators. I spent a long time staring at the schematic before I realized that if I changed the angles of the lines connecting the diodes, volia!; it becomes a classic bridge rectifier as shown on all the schematics I was familiar with, which is a great many. Clever way to save a few pennies and have 2 zeners for the higher output alternator.
