1971 Norton Commando Rebuild Thread

Hi Eddie,

It is the standard head with 30 MM intakes. I am using 32mm combat jetted Amal carbs on 32 x 30 intakes. Jim skimmed the head 10 thou, ported it and lightened the rockers. He used upgraded springs (not sure what type- Jim?). It has Kibble valves that are 1.5 mm larger. I used Kibble lightweight pushrods. Jim Radiused the followers and I have a webcam #12 grind in.

I don't know what the compression is. All I can say is that everything is just right.

Cheers

Thanks Jerry. Sounds like a perfect 'street-able' set up sir.

Both bikes look splendid, but I still can't quite forgive you for reneging on the best Commando paint scheme ever...!

Very, very nice Jerry.
Nothing less than we all expected.

Couple of Q's.
1. What did you do to the innards of the forks?
2. What's with the electrical/box switch assembly? Custom??

Hi Mike,

I used ally RGM dampers with better damping, new bushes and original springs. They work very well.

If you are asking about the ignition switch, i got it from JP Cyles. Its a simple 2 wire. I made a bracket or new carb back plate and bent it back on the left side. I had to get an ignition switch that would fit there. I have shorai and podtronics running + earth and an LED fuse box. Is that too much info? Lol

Cheers
