Re: 1971 Fastback 750: the right exhaust valve dont close we

Hi.
Yesterday i have done the compression test:
11,5 psi right, 11 psi left.
I can assume the valves work fine.
To day i have used the flash light for check the timing.
Starting from the static timing of 31 degree, at 5000 RPM the mark was at 38 degree both cylinders.
I have adjiusted to 31 degree, both sides.
After a short riding (the bikes rode very well) the right spark plug (always clean before) was well "done", better than left one more clean.
The right carburetor listens the pilot air screw, not the left.
Ciao
Piero

Start the bike.

Let it idle for a minute or 2 to warm up.

As the bike idles, spit on each exhaust pipe where it exits the head . Both exhaust pipes should be hot enough to make the spit give off a small puff of smoke.

IF the left pipe is colder than the right pipe, turn off the bike

Remove the idle jet screw and poke the right carb idle jet with a long thin sewing needle to clear it of any blockage. The idle jet is very hard to clear. Do not poke the jet with a toothpick. Use a metal sewing needle.

Remove the float bowl drain plug from that carburator and blow the idle jet passage way with compressed air before reinstalling the idle jet screw.

Reassemble the bowl drain plug and start the bike.

Let it warm up a little. Spit on the pipes again. Is the cold pipe warm now?....
