1957 Thruxton 9hr Endurance Race....

Appears there was a Dommy in 2nd place at one point. The most sucessfull machine in production racing at this time was the Gold star . the 350 being almost as good as the 500. The bikes being fully styled and mechanically developed for this type of event by the makers ( to the point that they became useless for normal road riding ) . Other makes had managements that frowned on racing road bikes and concentrated their resources on developing pucka racers and trying to meet the overwhelming world demand for everyday bikes.
