If my Himalayan is anything to go by yes, very well. I test rode a 650 a couple of weeks ago, but only in town so didn't get any chance to stretch it's legs. It seemed very precise though. So they handle?

The Classic 500 single and the Interceptor 650 would just squeeze both into my garage ...Which one are you interested in Mike?
Haha, like your style. The Classic 500 single and the Interceptor 650 would just squeeze both into my garage ...
Only downside, minor I know...A friend of mine has a RE 650 and absolutely loves it. He has 3 bikes, a Ducati Monster 821, a MV Augusta Turismo Veloce and the RE.
The Re is his go to bike. So much so he’s questioning the need for the others !

I was having lunch at a biker pub in north Queensland last week and there were lots of bikes coming and going.
As a group of them left - some old and new Triumphs, a couple of airhead Beemers and a RE650,
Well, all sounded great, except for the RE - reminded me of a badly worn sewing machine.
Yep I've seen/heard them with those short pea shootersWell that’s true, but also true of most new air cooled bikes in stock spec that we want / expect to sound nice.
He’s put some Peashooter esque straight through silencers on from Hitchcocks, a long time established Enfield specialist in the U.K. It sounds quite good.
You'll be disappointed with the 500 anywhere but around town. They do not do well at 70MPH for more than a short spurt. The Classic 500 single and the Interceptor 650 would just squeeze both into my garage ...
Johnny finished 6th at the Williams Grove I 1/2 Mile Production Twins Main Event. There's another race there today.Johnny Lewis has also been signed to RE. I think that he used to race for Indian.
