As some of you guys know i recently acquired my fathers Norton after his passing. I know its going to cost a fair bit to restore but I am not new to the world of building machines... Lol I have a Holden Commodre drag car that runs 10 secs on the 1/4 so i am used to having a money pit. Please be kind the machine has been in a barn for over 10 yrs that i know of and was covered with tarp and i know shes rough but it has a special place in my heart. Any advice or info please post away

Hmm i click on it and it works wonder what could be the problem

The link takes you to your Google photos page so you are the only one who sees the images.

I suggest you don't try to use Google photos even if you manage to find the correct links as we've had trouble with the images disappearing after a while.

I suggest you start an album at: https://postimages.org/

Upload your images and then 'copy' the individual Hotlink for forums code, and 'paste' it into your forum message.

Repeat for each additional image.

This seems likely to be an ongoing project so I will move the thread to the 'Rebuilds' section after a while.

R932/'300' (32mm) carb (or carbs 301 LH) aren't the originals, as they would have been 30mm (930).
It would have had a drum front brake originally.

Not sure if they were OE, but used to be known as Vincent Straights I seem to remember. MZ used a very similar bend on the TS250’s

Cheers,

cliffa.

That's going to make a great contrast "Before" photo, for the eventual excellent "After" one!

You've got your work cut out for you, but she's got good bones! Enjoy.

This thread can go in the "Norton Motorcycle Rebuilds" section. I really appreciate good pre-project detail photos, and typically try to take the same angle shots afterwards. Makes for interesting contrasting views...

Lab thank you for the idea on the image hosting site and
yes your correct mate i have got a photo of the machine just after it was bought in Fastback LR style with a drum brake front as for the Carbs yes i know the only thing i can think of is i know Dad had engine work done to the bike he was always a man for having something bigger he liked telling people it was a 750 but out performed a 750 it was all about power and going fast ....I think it may have bigger pistons and cam work or may have been taken out to 850 i am not sure i wont know until i pull the motor down at some stage........all something to look forward to

When phosphoric acid is used to remove rust it leaves a passive coating which slows down further rusting. If you replate the high tensile fasteners, you will need to heat treat at 200 degrees C, to prevent hydrogen embrittlement. Cadmium is more rust resistant than zinc, but more likely to cause embrittlement.
