A steel one, with rivets, and little round welding glass eyeholes...a face mask would be essential

You laugh. A friend of mine did have a 3 cylinder, 2 stroke, FWD, SAAB with 4 on the column. My uncle's half cousin's girlfriend's stepdad had one of these. It had a 4 speed column shift. I know, everyone says they didn't offer the 4 on the column but my uncle swears....
My dad and I pulled that exact same engine and put into a class H modified racing frame he built for amateur/beginner class at Mid-America raceways. You laugh. A friend of mine did have a 3 cylinder, 2 stroke, FWD, SAAB with 4 on the column.

Being young, dumb and full of .... We had a lot of fun in that car.
In an era of Muscle Cars, it was completely funky and weird.
I read that test to bring back memories. It's pretty spot on.
My favorite line..."It so utterly without showmanship that any performance you get out of it is surprising"...

had a lot of fun with the VW vacuum clutch semi automatics. An enterprising German called Mr Koch used the engine, gearbox and rear suspension to make a winch - the wheels were turned into spools that held 3000ft of 7x7 galvanished wire rope. The clutchs vacuum solenoid was switched in or out with a switch on the 'dashboard'.VW vacuum clutch semi-automatics... off-road, with motobuds, whilst partaking....
My mum had a Volvo variamatic
That was an oddball car
I used to borrow it on occasions
I soon realised it was as fast in reverse as forwards
I terrified a few mates with that car
Luckily my mum never found out
80 mph in reverse in those carsI went to a job involving one of them (ex fireman) where the old lady owner had just bought it brand new and wasn't used to the gears, she had managed to get it into reverse and crash it onto a railway crossing. She was ok but the car was wrecked (no trains either we had them stopped)
