TAB II Alloy Tank #3

Does anyone know if instead of the monza fuel cap, the oem type, sunken fuel cap assembly can be used? I was going to contact Tab about this but maybe some one has already asked?
Thanks
S
No, just the standard threaded boss is used. I can supply one with a Norton Dominator SS screw on cap, which is lower than the monza style.

Won't that require an internal vent line like on modern tanks, and the stock 961 nylon tanks?

Sorry, this might have been discussed already but where does the internal vent line run? IE from the filler area ,inside to a spigot that goes out of the tank? What are the down sides of it? I have a Ducati tank with internal vent line and it doesnt seem to be a problem….

Simple setup. Venting via the Monza cap internal components as shown - through the initial brass pressure place, around the channel and venting through the second brass pressure plate to atmosphere.

Mine arrived recently...finally got round to a test/dry fit. All looks good so far.....
Beautiful alloy sculpture!
But, I'm partial to Stu's design with inset paint.
Love to see an alloy tank with just the inset painted, with maybe a thinner black out line stripe.

Probably...but I leave for the TT in 3 weeks. Would be tight for time
You should have a local decal firm sympathetic to bikers Kev, as you’re short of time. Simple job to recolour/complete the attached decal - it’s what you guys are describing above. Paint same down the track.

Should at least be possible to have the 2016 Norton logo printed so the tank’s not completely bare. Or purchase the decals detailed at #233. and fit yourself.

Enjoy the TT ! I have never been to it. My wife and I were at the Classic and loved that back in 2017 .
Hey - yeh I go every year and have done for decades....love it! First time I've taken the Norton though (wish me luck) and I'm gutted to not take the Multistrada as it's perfect for the trip. My mate I go with has just bought a Thruxton and planted the seed on taking these bikes!

Hey - yeh I've got 2 more to try and failing that I'll get a plain decal/logo for the trip and then I'll have more time when I come back to sort something.

As a side-note...when taking my original tank off, the wee collar had come out so was only held on by one bolt. Fixed when moving to Tab tank but maybe worth checking the next time a tanks off.
