Hello fellow Nortoneers,
I'm sure a lot of you guys have been to Norton rallies where there was a tech session or two put on. Here's my question: What subjects would be of interest or value to you? Nothing too arcane, but something that would maybe help out those that are new owners or of general interest.
Thanks, Bill

Amal carburetor cleaning/disassembly and assembly. At the Lumby BC rally years ago we had a contest to assemble one inside a box with the audience side open but blind to the assembler. Great fun.

Do they have a "neuropathy" classification?

Things I still struggle with:
- how to remove a back wheel single handed, without a bike lift.
- getting a lighter clutch pull.
- measuring and adjusting front and rear isolastics.
:)

Gearbox.
Shimming the layshaft at the kicker to stop drift .
Removing the layshaft D.S. bearing and fitting a new one .

Most rallies I been to in my younger days was any motorcycle welcome, pay at the gate, 3 days of camping, drinking piss, live music, perv on all the lovely girls, run a muck, watch pissed idiots getting hurt doing stupid things, then recover before riding home, but some rallies and bike shows they have the usual people selling their biker goods, maybe a dyna trailer set up for HP comps but have never come across tec sections unless it run by a dealership who are only interested in selling their new bikes or goods that go with them.
Most of the good rallies here in Aus were run by outlaw bikie clubs but these days with the crack down of outlaw bikie clubs since 2013 and closing down their club houses and made them all go under ground all the good party rallies are long gone, the fun police put a stop to that.
It use to be a big money earner for the clubs as well the local community groups who supplied food and the scouts collecting all the alloy drink cans where everyone had a great weekend and the local pub making big money from suppling the beers and drinks usually set up at a small country area where the local businesses made their money when the rallies come to their townships and even the police would set up a breath test at the gate so you could be tested before leaving to make sure you are under the limit as they have a road block up the road testing every rider/driver for drink driving.
Well that was long ago now, now they just spoiled it for everyone, yes still some bike shows come but not like a full weekend of drinking and having fun with like minded folks.

I can relate to that
I was at broadford hells angels show in 1985
We stayed on an extra day and the scouts were clearing the site in return for the aluminium cans
We got stopped a couple of miles down the road I was on a gs750 my mate on a cb750
Once the police saw our pommy licences they didn't bother breath testing
Just told us to piss off 😂😂😂😂😂
