Recently I changed my internet, TV , phone package and to cut a very long story short I had a few issues!
Firstly the company did actually turn up on time but because they needed to access a British telecom box on my neighbours house 2 doors away
And the neighbour wasn't home they couldn't go into their garden
Then the next two appointments they didn't turn up
Bearing in mind they only give you a morning or afternoon appointment or they threaten to charge you if you are not home!
So I when they sent me the 4th appointment for it to be fitted I phoned them to confirm they were actually going to come? And during that conversation I had said if you don't come this time I will cancel the whole bundle
A week or so later the day before installation they emailed me telling me I'd cancelled the installation!!
I phoned them up and explained that no I haven't cancelled but during the conversation I'd said "if" it wasn't installed I'd cancel
But it was too late
So I had to start all over again
Set up a new account
Had new equipment sent to me despite me having one new lot sitting in a box at home!!
I got my girlfriend to wait home for the next appointment as it costs me too much to keep taking time off from work to wait for them
Anyway they did turn but couldn't run the wire because they "are not allowed to drill through plastic cladding" on my house
And they couldn't go up a ladder on my neighbours house without the ladder bolted to the wall!!!
My girlfriend told me this on the phone and I came home in a rage to sort these clowns out
By the time I'd got there they'd decided to use an existing eyebolt in the wall to secure the ladder on my neighbours house
And with my consent drill through my wooden door frame to run the cable
Sorry for the long rant to anyone that's still reading
But this has taken nearly six weeks FFS

Possible water ingress to the framing ..will make them liable for any damage that may occur...leaky building syndrome i suspect

Do they need a reason?
Maybe they just get their jollies screwing with you baz.

Honestly I get it and share your frustration. The tail is wagging the dog. The inmates are running the asylum...all that.

The cable sompany sucks as much as ANY of the big conglomerates. It is BY DESIGN. They make it (almost) impossible to "quit" them.

Health and safety gone crazy, but then how many installers have fallen off ladders and if they drill into plastic cladding a bit of sealant will fix that problem and no matter what happens they will always have a reason to f#*k you around, its the way of the modern world we live in, not good but its the way things have gone.
Its very frustrating indeed and getting a appointment time and they don't show up is the curse to any normal person and most of the time the companies have so down sized their work force and over book the workers they have, usually its not the installers fault and complaint don't seem to faze them.

Don't feel special in any way. 🤣🤣

Took me 11 phone calls and either 4 or 5 visits to get fibre into my place in Wellington NZ.

As you probably live in an urban area, six weeks seems frustrating.
I live in a rural area. To get fibre took me 3 years after the city announced that we could get it.
Most of the of time of course for planning. Then a week to dig down the tubing just 2 miles on my property.
3 weeks delay before blowing the fibre into the tubing. Done in a day.
2 weeks later weld together all fibre connections. Took some hours.
Later 2 hours to get a connection into the house.
Finally select a service provider and get a router.
Naturally quite a number of meetings, mails and phone calls.
Should have taken much longer if not a nearby church was eager to get high speed internet ASAP.
Don't understand their hurry. Church built in early 13th century.

Openreach subcontract a lot of installation to Kelly's who have a bad reputation for their standard of install. I had them but had all the preparation done with ducting, pull lines etc all in place so they did not even have to take the ladder off the van.

Theres lots wrong here in reality guys.

Yes, we like to blame it on the clowns installing, and there’s no doubt plenty of truth in that.

But also:

I‘d bet my bikes that they were never trained properly.

And these things like not using a ladder, etc will be COMPANY RULES drilled into them with threat of being fired if they break them.

And that they are on piece work, so a job that’s likely to take a long time will cost them dearly.

And they have a list of jobs to do that’s actually impossible to do, so it’s very easy to just skip a difficult job and do the next.

And there’s no real supervision in place.

And the company just isn’t set up to process / doesn’t want to hear, your problems and issues.

Lots and lots wrong at the company / management level.

And sadly, all too common.

Yep I understand all that
The thing that still puzzles me is why after a week did they email me telling me I'd cancelled installation
It was one comment during a conversation about installation
IE I had said "if" they don't turn up for the fourth appointment I would cancel
It's obviously a recorded conversation
If I'd cancelled there and then the conversation would have stopped
Not carried on to Bank payment details ,date of installation etc
So only part of my conversation can have been listened to ?

Probably an AI bot listened later and just caught the one word out of context. Should be called Artificial Dumbness or AD, like driverless cars and fusion energy always just around the corner ;) .

I would add, that, sadly, in our litigious society so many people are looking for a workers comp injury payday, and the cable company has the DEEPEST POCKETS, and the lawyers facilitated them.
