More shocking stuff!
I noticed that Ikon listed two shocks for Norton Commando.
The 76-1373 and the 7610-1653
I had a disscussion with Dave Gardner from Ikon U.S. about why? He Says>
The 76-1373 is the old style with out the 4 position adj. for rebound. At one time it was thought that bikes that vibrated a lot would cause the adj. rebound gizmo to fail. ( Like a P-11)
So they provided the Norton shocks with out the rebound gizmo. (Dial a ride)
This not true for the commando.
The best Ikon shock for the commando is the 7610-1653 with the 4 position rebound adj.(Dial a Ride) as vibration does not seem to be a problem with the isolated engine.
Both cost $330 US

I bought a pair of 1653 from Dave years ago and never looked back!!! I use to hate Koni, too harsh, but the Ikon are really great... I have them on 4 bikes and love to have it on the rest of the flock!

For anyone seeking ultimate suspension on a TS machine, the best available currently are the T260-C shocks made by Maxton Suspension in the UK. They are costly, but as anything else you do get what you pay for with suspension, but if you are not that concerned about how well the rear end works then budget shocks such as Hagon or NJB will be just fine.

However the cheaper shocks come with the same damping for all applications, with no changes in damping for bikes with differing rear suspension geometry, or when fitted with alternative rate springs. Main problem with the budget shocks though is that component parts are all pretty crude and based on designs which are 30 years of more out of date, and in performance terms are comparable to tyres that were around 30 years ago.

So generally speaking how many years should a pair of good shocks last? My bikes on the 3rd pair (that I know of)
