Hey all, I’m looking to purchase a frame however it’s an hour and half away. I can get a family member to pick up the frame.

Any tips on what to look for? I’m wondering if the neck or downtubes are twisted at all. The guy seems pretty certain the frames dead straight but hard to tell.

From what I can see, it looks OK. I wish there was a picture of the side stand mount and tubing around it, and a complete side picture.

I asked him if the tubing was indented behind the side stand lug and he said no. M biggest concern is if the head tube is twisted. The downtubes look pretty good.

neck can be straightened relatively easily if there is a facility nearby, of course. The backbone looks straight enough.the invisible swing arm looks good too….

As Concours says,go see it yourself. It’s not fair on your relatives to try and look over a very critical part.
Just my 2 cents.

I did know if it is the angle the photo was taken at but in the head on shot from the front ( taken favoring the left side of frame) the tank brackets look down by the left when eying them relative to the seat area .
Go look at it .

I wonder if the downtubes can be at least partially fixed by carefully squeezing the sides back to the correct width?

Depends on the damage I think.
I would be more than a bit leery about potential for future failure.
If it were the only frame I could find (and the tubes were substantially squashed) I would go down the sleeve/weld path.

Matches at least one of my frames, I add in an extra rubber washer to the tank side on the stud to level it out, seems they did not see it as critical to check and repair.

You can pull dents like that out
Make a die from a split tube with the correct ID to fit over the down tube
Drill a large enough hole to clear the dent
Tack weld a stud in the centre of dent
Then using a bridge you can pull it out, heating if required

I wonder what the seller thinks the level in the photos is telling us?
His property is level? What am I missing?
You beat me to it.

Unless the ground it's sitting on is level, there's no way for that level to tell anything accurately...

Even if the block the bike is sitting on is level, it says nothing about everything above the lower frame rails.
Which is pretty much the whole frame.
