Aspirin is the only non-narcotic pain reliever that does anything for me, but I almost died of a bleeding ulcer so I'm careful about it now. I was taking lots of plain aspirin when I got the ulcer. Today I use enteric coated and never take without food. I only use it when things are bad and I try 325mg wait a while to see if another is required. Often one takes the edge off enough to live with.Aspirin works better than anything, but it gives me ulcers. In general I don't care for pills much.
Not sure if it would help with your problem but I absolutely love steroid injections in my feet. Within 1 hour I'm in "superman mode" and it lasts for about 48 hours. No pain anywhere, energy, sleep not needed (and mostly not possible), and eat way to much. Of course they are overall bad for you but life is WAY better for those 48 hours! Oral steroids are even better, but I won't take them or any narcotic pain killers - I would become addicted for sure!
