Hi

I am in the process of rebuilding of a Dominator 99 that came as a box of bits. Unfortunately there was no parts for the oil system and I am struggling to buy and fit the correct parts for the oil system. I have a couple of questions and I'd value your advice. I have added a few pictures.

Firstly I have a cylinder head that has two threaded holes in the top for an oil supply, however the previous owner has fitted exhaust rocker covers that take an oil flow as well. Should I connect both the oil supply holes and the exhaust covers or blank off either part?

Secondly I would like information on the correct connections for the oil pipes on the engine and oil tank. I have two unions on the bottom of the oil tank and one on the rear of the oil tank. I have one connection on the bottom of the timing side case that I believe I have to fit a double union to. I have a single pipe on the drive side crankcase. What is the correct way to run the pipes on my bike?

Thanks again for your help

Exhaust cover oil pipe elbows look like homemade breather pipes :!:
If engine suffers excessive oil problems at the top end the rocker spindles have been put back in 180 degrees out :!:
Oil pump looks like it is bolted in a different place to what I normally see; I suspect this is an early dynamo engine :?:
Early engines had a metal pipe from a junction on the return oil pipe going to the 2 banjo bolts on top of cyl head

commando, the 2 threaded holes on the top of the head are the oil feeds to the rockers, the ones on the tappet covers are most likely breathers,as the 99 has a low pressure feed I don't think it matters which way the spindles are fitted, how the oil pump can be fitted in any other place is beyond me{Bernard}looking at the oil tank in your pics the union on the left is feed to the engine the one on the right is the return to the tank and the low pressure feed to the rockers, the rear of the crankcase pic should have a 2 pipe union, you wont have a problem getting hold of,the pipe from the left crankcase is from the timed crankcase breather chris

For heavyweight twins, (this includes Atlas and Dommies) the Norton manual stresses the flats on the rocker spindles MUST face the center of the head. Oil starvation will result if placed 180 degrees out.
