New to me 56 Domi 88.

I need some advice about the foot peg rubbers. This bike is a "transition" year. The 56 parts book doesn't show the parts with the wide line frame. Just got some new rubbers and they are short. What I took off of the passenger pegs were the flat ones, there was nothing on the front. The front rubbers that I did get are loose on the peg.
I expect that by the time this is over I will know far more about 56 Nortons than I do now.

Is there a way to get the AMC clutch apart? The buffers were trashed, and I had to dig them out, or what was left of them.
I have looked online for YouTube videos, and the various shop books that I have with no luck. Any other source that I might have missed?
The exhaust has been hung.
Thanks in advance for your help. New to me 56 Domi 88.New to me 56 Domi 88.New to me 56 Domi 88.

Well the hits keep on coming. As I wait for parts to come back from the powder painters, I decided to look at how the tanks fit on the bike.
The Indian made one went on first and looking at it I noticed that there were issues with the paint job. You can see what I'm talking about in the pictures. The original tank fits better but a close look at the inside shows what I think is Kreem inside and it is peeling away. So, all that needs to come out. I took a small sample of the coating and put it into a jar filled with acetone to see how well that would work. Ideas?

If Kreem is epoxy like most liners it can be dissolved with acetone .
I did this on two of my tanks that had Eastwood Automotive liners .
If you want to save the paint put a heavy coat of wax on it EVERYWHERE. Avoid the temptation to wrap it with something- if the acetone runs under it problems will erupt.
Plug the petcock holes and fill with acetone very carefully. Have hose on standby to flush if you spill . Let soak for a day and drain out of petcock holes into container . You can dispose of it as your town requires or pour into shallow trays and evaporate. Repeat as needed.

That is my game plan. I will let you know how it goes.

I'm working on the electrics on my Domi project right now. Been in contact with Greg Poirier and was asking him about the Podtronics regulators for the dynamo models. It looks like Wassell is making a copy of the Portronics and from what Greg says, people are having issues. Anyone have any experience with these? I have already ordered one from RGM.

Not the answer you are looking for I know but I have had the Podtronics one on my ES2 for many years now and trouble free , hidden away in the old electro mechanical regulator box . Are the Podtronics units no longer available?

Bob Kizer passed away a few years ago. Sold it to Coventry Spares but the owner has been sick and I'm not sure anymore have been made. Greg thinks a DRV2 would be a good replacement. Let you know what RGM says.

Got a quick reply from RGM this AM. They say that they have never had one of the regulators that they sell returned and haven't heard of any issues.

On a separate note, does anyone have the correct wiring diagram for a 56 Domi 88? I purchased a copy of the "factory" shop manual but it doesn't match what I have. The diagram in the manual which says it is for 55 to 57 Nortons. The problem is that my bike has the PRS8 switch

and the diagram is for the earlier switch. The switch that came with the bike is like the key switch on my 58 Domi 88.
Always something.
Thanks in advance for your help.

PsR8 switch is for a coil ignition bike ,a bit complicated but can be used with a lot fewer wires .

Interesting. The bike as it came to me had the PSR8 switch but no distributor. Dug into my stash of parts and came up with a working K2F. Don't have any distributor parts. The HL shell is set up for the PRS8 switch, you have given me things to think about. Thank you, I think. Didn't see any numbers on the HL shell.

I would like to see is the instruments as seen from the top.
