Mate the world has gone mad, looks like I wont be able to enjoy a ride on my Norton with a few mates.

In an attempt to crack down on unlawful motorcycle gangs our state government (Queensland) are about to bring in new laws that will effectively brand all motorcycle riders as unlawful.

They intend to pull over law abiding riders and harass anyone that rides a motorcycle in a group of three or more.

Unless you do the following each and every time you go out for a ride.

"Motorcycle riders will now have to ring a police hotline number if they want to ride in groups of three or more in peace."

I have posted here as I'm sure all Norton owners would be appalled as I am.

Cheers

It's bleedin' insane. I spoke to a guy yesterday who had been pulled over three times on one ride to work. It doesn't matter if you're in a group or not, they're going to pull you over and harrass you.

That is pretty amazing. From what I have read it would appear that it is the Harley owners clubs that are being picked on over there.

Over here it is the sport bikers that are being picked on, but not to that degree. It seems the Harley groups around here are pretty tight with the police. Some good -some bad.

What is it they say. Power corrupts -absolute power absolutely corrupts. Jim

Well its NZ bragging rights that the end of the world like Y2K will start there first. What a new stress to live under. I guess they will have some more naked parades to bring attention that only a few bikers are bad news. Over here there was incident of banned sport rider club mostly black that picked on a SUV family seriously injuring driver who fled to lead away from family. Turns out they attacked another driver some time prior. Blood and fractures of SUV vs cyclers so things getting tense here too. Harley riders not associated with color clubs and little Hondas too helped de-fuse the 'get all cyclers' attitude back in the 60's-70's. My antics on loud P!! didn't help public image at all.

The laws are supposed to target " Criminal Motorcycle gangs", they have declared that certain clubs are criminal organisations and it's illegal to be a member. Clubs such as Hells Angels, Finks, Mongols are on the list. However, policemen seem unable to tell a Harley from an R1 and everyone on two wheels is being pulled over and harassed. They also seem unaware that the bad guys have enough money to buy cars and under the current conditions, aren't riding their bikes, so ordinary riders are bearing the brunt of it.

Wearing the patches is now illegal.
A guy was arrested for wearing a "Rebels" belt buckle.

Patches, number off bikes ......... it aint gunna work!!

New laws in Australia gone mad

I saw the list of 26 clubs outlawed, they were ALL Outlaw Motorcycle gangs, not Ulysses or Vietnam Vets or.....
I left that police state 6 years ago never to return.

Joh Bjelke-Petersen would be proud of a law like that. Blooming heck.

Don, believe it or not but they raided Vietnam Veterans MC.
businessmen in motorcycle field, towing, mechanical etc are really panicking that they could be charged under the association bill. It fucked. They walked into a car towing company and demanded all staff details to ascertain who may be a club rider and have them removed from their employment and charged with association. 15 years mandatory sentence for club member. 10 extra mandatory for a senior member (treasurer/Sargent/president).
Truly unbelievable

"they raided", who are they! and proof would be nice!!

You better believe it as It's all over the news here.
Police are very proactive and are pulling up suspected members of outlaw clubs weather they are or not and taking photos of their tattoos.
They are setting up roadside checks on known motorcycle routes pulling up every bike rider and doing full checks, drug and alcohol testing the works.
Some places where motorcyclist go to just have a coffee with friends are doing it tough as no one is game to stop as it maybe considered to be in a group.

"The raid on Friday night targeted the Vietnam and Veterans Motorcycle Club (VVMC) at its clubhouse at Kingston south of Brisbane.

Twenty officers from Road Policing Command and the QPS Taskforce Maxima anti-bikie group raided the club’s regular monthly "Bunker Bash" party.

The VVMC restricts membership to men who fought in Vietnam and ex-servicemen who hold an Active Service Medal.

Most of its members are in their 60s and 70s. The club is not on the list of 26 banned organisations included in the state's anti-bikie laws."

OK apoligies ........ well as they say W.A. means Wait Awhile, Im in the shed all day every day doin stuff with wireless on and have not heard a thing.. if it was on TV then i missed it.... I can only say that some plod intell got it "wrong"..... Well maybe they didnt... It makes publicity and cheap advertisement.... Calculated error maybe.

Yes plod gone mad!!! There goes the Norton Gatherings, BSA Days et al.

P.S. Joh Bielke was just another Kiwi who came to the real world, with the intention of stuffing it up, looks like he succeeded!

I may be getting off thread, but the police state starts with gun confiscation.....how has that worked out in AU?

In my humble opinion,Mr Plod believes he is feeling that he is DEALING with both thE OMCs & the firearm situation at the same time, which is being confirmed to the said Mr Plod by the chattering classes of the Media, ran by some bloke called Rupert!

Thankful every day for the Bill of Rights.

Politicians can try to go around it, but it takes one hell of a fight.

I wish things were better for our Aussie friends. No one should have to put up with that crap.

Get out now, come over here, we may still be free for a few years yet.
