new Duckham classic Q oil

More than a little grey on zinc levels, or levels of anything really. What is an 'optimal level', having worked in purchasing and spending hours listening to salesman drivel that statement is meaningless and sadly typical.

If it is the same oil as the one they sold in the seventies it should be ok. In those days there were, as far as we in the Netherlands were concerned, only two types of oil worthy of consideration. Castrol GTX (a different oil from the one they're selling nowadays with the same name) and Duckhams Q 20W50.
What is a matter of concern is that recently Duckhams has been taken over by Castrol, so this Q oil could be a rebranded Castrol oil. There is no way of telling.

It won't be, according to the tech. data sheet this 'Q' is API SJ service classification.

The original oil service classifications of the seventies are obsolete.

Owned by BP for many years (who also own Castrol) but the Duckhams name was put up for sale a few years ago and now appears to be under new ownership.
