Most desirable Norton???

Who? Jay Leno? yes, he does enjoy a laugh...did well out of it too, so he can afford to enjoy a machine or 3..

Having owned both a 1969 and 1972, I really really lusted after a 1975 Interstate.
I've had one for the past 20 years and it still rings my bell.

However........
recently I have been thinking that I sure would like a fuel injected "long range" Fastback.
I guess that would be the most desirable model for me.
(for the moment anyway :lol: }

A camshaft?, singular,ya think? Matt, more than one, I`d reckon, even - I - have got more than one...inc one for a Norton...

Which means how about keeping all the comments and photos of Commandos out of this thread because if anything is a "later Norton" it would be a Commando........

Whaaa, you mean a new [S.G.] Commando? , they`re available now? in time for Xmas,....no way....stop teasing, Beng...

In answer to the original question, I suppose I already have what I need...

'75 MkIII Interstate (unmolested)-
Most desirable Norton???

Dreer prototype monoshock 850 (just remove lights & install number plates for racing)-
Most desirable Norton???

'72 Combat "Dunstallized" (I guess this one could be a racer a little easier than the Blue bike)-
Most desirable Norton???

One has to be a bone stock factory Norton, the other is a second party speciality race Norton. Base you decision on dependability, collectability, function (thrill to ride!) and just plain Beauty. Money is has no bearing, your rich!

Money is no problem. Then this question makes no sense- I would have [at least] one of each and a showroom garage to keep them in with a few fellows to stop by and polish the alloy . Jim

Too many bikes is sorta like having too many women. If you need help servicing them, you never get as much out of the experience.

I'd like a Nomad and a CNW cafe bike with all the fixins. Or, a pre 62' 650 of some sort and Jim Comstocks bike.

Thanks...... but No thanks!
I never understood those bells, never had one - never will.
Just unnecessary fluff in my humble opinion.
It's Kinda like having fringe on a leather jacket (what's the point???)

Or like having a front wheel on a chopper ?

No...... nothing like that at all!
a tire is an essential piece of the machine, without a front tire bike no go!

The bike came with the bell, and I never bothered to take it off. None of my other bikes have one.

The question was more to your point of desiring a Mark III. I just wondered how you like the interstate fat tank versus the more common Roadster tank?

I like the Interstate tank very much.
It fits with the style of my bike nicely.

The saddlebags, crash bar and wider "double bucket" seat seem to slim the the tank out and put it into proportion as a whole.

Without my "touring package" installed, the tank does look a little bulbous. (not bad - just different)

I am 6'2" and with the stock footpeg location, I sit on the bike with my legs sort of splayed so they never hit the tank.
All in all, a very comfortable motorcycle.

I currently own 1 of my two big faves: a '75 Mark 3 Roadster.

The other would be a '68 650 SS, and I actually used to own one and was dumb enough to sell it for tuition money way back when.

I guess that means I have to track it down and buy it back.

Keith
